Epson Stylus SX100 budget all-in-one

Epson's new Stylus SX100 multifunction printer isn't just cheap to buy, it's pretty reasonable to keep running thanks to its low cost individual ink cartridges. As you can replace each colour separately, at just £5.99 a pop, you don't end up throwing away unused ink as you would with a combined unit.

Despite its budget roots, it's still a pretty speedy performer - capable of churning out prints at a maximum of 26 pages per minute. It can turn its hand to photos too and the Easy Photo Print technology can even remove red-eye before creating the final print.

It also comes with a 600dpi scanner and the bundled Easy Photo Fix software will help clean up scans of old photos, helping to restore washed out colour in faded shots.

The SX100 will be available in September for £59.99, see Epson for further details.

Apcom Digiscribble

Computers have been promising proper hand writing recognition for years, but until that comes it's some times quicker and easier to put pen to paper if you quickly want to jot down your ideas.

Unfortunately, paper is easily lost and hard to search which is where the Apcom Digiscribble comes in, combining the ease of use of paper notes with the storage and searchability of electronic copies. Just clip it to the top of your notepad and it'll keep a note of anything you write.

It can capture up to 50 pages of notes before you need to download them to a PC and it will even learn your handwriting, converting your scrawl into editable text that you can easily import in Word or Outlook. Alternatively you can use it in mouse mode and take advantage of the pen features built into Windows Vista.

The Digiscribble is available now for £59.95 from Scanning Pens.
