HP MediaSmart Server EX475

If you like the idea of a central machine to hold all your backups and shared files, but the thought of setting up a server is about as attractive as root canal surgery then take a look at the HP MediaSmart Server EX475.

It runs Microsoft’s new Windows Home Server operating system, which offers the security and stability of the enterprise based Windows Server 2003 but with out the admin headache to get it up and running. Just switch it on, install an application on your PC and you’re ready to go. It will automatically backup your computer for you without any further intervention, so you can be sure you won’t lose your files due to a disk crash.

It features a 1.8 GHZ AMD Sempron processor and 512MB of RAM and comes with a massive 1TB of storage as standard. It also has four hot swappable drive bays, so adding additional storage is simply a case of sliding in a new disk.

The MediaSmart Server will be available soon for £449.99, see HP for more information.
