CANON Digital IXUS 90 IS Camera

Canon  Canon has packed its best tools into this digital camera, including motion detection, face detection technology and an optical image stabiliser.

Thanks to these technical features, you can get rid of blur caused by movement and get pictures bursting with colour. Shade is eliminated and light is softer on faces.

The Canon Ixus 90 IS has a 10-megapixel CCD sensor, guaranteeing colours are true to life, and a resolution of 3648 x 2736 pixels, which is perfect for larger prints.

Plus, the Digital Ixus 90 IS has a large, 3-inch screen, giving you perfect control over your shots. You can monitor them before and after taking them thanks to this screen, set exposure levels, and choose different scene and colour modes to suit the situation.

The camera, from the Ixus range, has been wonderfully designed, both in terms of style and ergonomics.

Olympus Pen E-P1 Micro Four Thirds camera

Olympus is pitching the Micro Four Thirds format as combining the best bits of a digital SLR and compact camera.

The Pen E-P1 features interchangeable lenses, so you're not tied to just the one that comes with the camera but it's considerably smaller than a traditional digital SLR.

You can take shots up to 12.3-megapixel and it can even turn its hand high definition video too with the ability to capture footage at 720p resolution at 30fps (frames per second).

The Pen E-P1 will be available for £699 from 25 June from Jessops.

Canon Ixus 990 IS

Canon This 12-megapixel Canon IXUS 990 IS Compact Digital Camera is sleek and compact. It boasts an 5x optical zoom lens for a cool telephoto range (37-185mm equivalent).

Thanks to Canon's optical image stabiliser, which effectively minimises blur caused by shaky hands, you'll enjoy marvellous detail and colour fidelity.

The lens is supported up by the DIGIC 4 image processing engine, which provides fast performances and smooth snaps with little digital noise (grain). The camera ISO sensitivity range goe up to 1600, so you can take portraits in low lighting conditions, without the need to use flash.

Another feature of the Canon IXUS 990 IS is the High Definition movie recording mode. This mode captures 30 frames per second with 1280 x 720-pixel resolution (720p), giving your video extra clarity and brightness so you can display them with no loss in quality on a widescreen television via the camera's HDMI Mini connector.

Sony Alpha A330 digital SLR

The Sony Alpha A330 comes with everything you need if you're just starting out in the world of digital SLR photography.

It's supplied with an 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 lens and can take snaps up to 10.2-megapixel. Once you've taken your shots you can view them back on its 2.7in LCD monitor or hook it up to a big screen TV via HDMI.

Sony Cybershot DSC-W290 digital camera

Sony's Cybershot DSC-W290 may be lightweight at just 167g, but its feature list is anything but.

It packs a 12.1-megapixel sensor and there's a 5x optical zoom for getting close up on the action. Red eye reduction and anti blink technology mean fewer wasted snaps and the smile shutter can automatically take pictures when people are grinning.

Multiple face detection technology can spot up to eight people in a photo and HD output makes it easy to enjoy your pics on a big screen TV.

Canon HV30 Camcorder

Canon Canon's new camcorder, the HV30, was voted "Best HD Camcorder 2008" at the EISA awards. It has a shiny black casing and records HDV 1080i images directly to MiniDV tape.

Building on the success of the HV20, the HV30 has a number of tweaks that make it easier to use. The Canon HV30 comes with a Canon HD lens and a 2.96-megapixel Full HD CMOS sensor, as well as a Digic DV II processor for realistic, colourful images..

To enjoy your creations on a larger screen, it has an HDMi connection, and you can even capture life’s best moments from afar with its wide-angle lens. This camcorder also includes a video lamp and 0.2 lux sensitivity, so you can film at night or outside, and a 10x optical zoom so you can focus your attention on subjects in the distance.

In addition to its photo mode for memory cards and built-in flash, the HV30 has Pictbridge connectivity for direct photo printing and a DV input and output, as well as a USB 2.0 port.
