Benq T850 touch sensitive camera

Benq has clearly being paying attention to the advances in touchscreen interfaces if its new T850 camera is anything to go by. In addition to identifying simple taps, it can also recognise circles and swipes, which makes for a much more intuitive experience.

For example, if you draw a circle around someone on the display it will zoom in on them using the 12x optical lens. You can also thumb through photos you've taking just by swiping from right to left on the display.

The rest of the specification is pretty impressive, with face detection to ensure that people's ugly mugs are in focus and a burst mode that can take twelve shots in a second. It's also the world's slimmest 8 megapixel snapper, according to Benq, measuring 14.9mm at its thinnest point.

The T850 will be available soon, pricing has yet to be decided. For further details, see Benq.

Sony DVP-NS708H upscaling DVD player

Blu-ray may have won the HD war, but that's not much consolation when most of your movie collection is already in DVD format. If you've got a top of the range high definition set, but nothing to plug into it, then Sony's new DVD-NS708H could wring a bit more life out of your current flicks.

It'll upscale your existing discs to 1080p, which won't magically make them high definition but should still make them a lot nicer to look at. It can also make the most of your camera snaps, so slip in a disc of JPEG images and they'll be displayed in full HD glory so you can sit back and enjoy a cinematic slideshow in your lounge.

It supports HDMI for simple setup and hook it up to a compatible Sony Bravia TV and you can even control both from a single remote.

The DVP-NS708H will be available soon, pricing has yet to be decided. For further details, see Sony.

Iomega eGo leather portable hard drive

Iomega is hoping to bring a touch of class to portable storage with its latest external drive. Rather than just wrapping it in plastic, the eGo is finished in leather so it will match your Filofax and briefcase.

As well as looking good, it's pretty well specified when it comes to transporting your data around. It can store up to 250GB of files and as its USB powered you don't need to lug a mains adapter around with you as well. Iomega has also thrown in a copy of EMC Retrospect HD backup software so you can easily keep a copy of your important files safe.

Data on the drive itself is also protected by Iomega's DropGuard technology, so it can take a fall up 1.29m and still keep on going.

The eGo Leather portable hard drive is available now for £99.99, see Iomega for more information.

Denon AH-D2000 high end headphones

There's no getting away from the fact that these headphones are expensive, but when you consider that they're half the price of Denon's last pair they're a comparative bargain.

They're constructed from lightweight magnesium, so despite their size they're comfortable to wear and the closed design helps block out unwanted noise so you can concentrate on just enjoying the music. To enhance the audio, the acoustic optimiser constantly checks and adjusts the sound pressure on both sides of the diaphragm for better bass and faster response.

Even the cables used to connect the cans to your audio player are of the utmost quality, constructed from 99.99% oxygen free copper with gold plated connectors. They can also go very loud, capable of producing 106dB of audio.

The AH-D2000 are available now for £249.99, for further details see Denon.

Traxdata MultiMediaDrive

Much like the Iomega with its Screenplay HD, TraxData has hit on the idea that for some users it's far easier to hook a portable hard drive up to their TV than try and figure out how to setup a network streamer.

The MultiMediaDrive features an HDMI port, so getting it to talk to your high definition telly won't be a problem, and it can pump out video up to 1080i for that HD experience. It'll hold up to 500GB of media, so it'll take a fair amount of time to fill up, and to get your files onto it you simply need to connect it to your PC via USB and drag and drop the ones you want to watch.

It can playback video files in MPEG1, MPEG2, DivX or Xvid format and it can handle audio files in MP3 or WAV too. If you just want to browse your holiday snaps from the comfort of the sofa instead then there's JPEG support as well.

The MultiMediaDrive will be available soon for £149, see Traxdata for more information.

You configure it via your web browser, so adding a new station is simply a case of finding one you like in the library and dragging it to your favourites folder. You can also bookmark songs that are playing via a simple button press and then buy them later from the Orange Music Store.

Logitech Pure-Fi Mobile Bluetooth soundsystem

Logitech's new wireless Pure-Fi Mobile would make the ideal outdoor speaker set, given the changeable nature of the British weather system. It can playback tunes wirelessly from your mobile or other Bluetooth device so if the heavens open you've only got one thing to grab on the way in.

It's got a range of 10m, so your music source doesn't even need to be nearby, and it should carry on pumping out tunes for a good 12 hours before the battery packs up. It can also double as a speakerphone, although you're unlikely to want to use it to natter to Grandma if you've got people round to entertain.

You can also go down the wired route if you want to hook-up devices that don't have Bluetooth built in and its four speaker setup should provide plenty of oomph to get your party started.

The Pure-Fi Mobile is available now for £99.99, for more information see Logitech.

Iomega Screenplay HD multimedia hard drive

The Iomega Screenplay HD makes it extremely easy to enjoy your music, movies and photos on your high definition TV. Unlike media streamers, which can be complicated to setup and need to connect to the network, the Screenplay HD is a standalone hard drive that you can just copy your files onto and hook up to your TV.

The 500GB disk has enough space to hold over two million photos, 9,250 hours of music or 750 hours of video, so you'll never be stuck for something to watch. It includes an HDMI connection, as well as component, so you won't have a problem connecting it up to an HD screen.

It supports many popular file formats, such as MP3, JPEG and MPEG4 and there's a remote control included so you can pick what to watch without having to get up.

The Screenplay HD is available now for £144.99, see Iomega for further details.

Creative Vado point and shoot camcorder

Creative's new Vado camcorder may not be able to shoot high definition video, but if you're just after something light and portable to carry with you then it's more than up to the job.

It can only record video at a resolution of 640x480, which is slightly lower than DVD quality but more than enough if you're planning on uploading your footage to the internet. The Vado also comes preloaded with its own YouTube upload application, so getting your footage on the video sharing site is a doddle.

As it's not capturing as much data as an HD camcorder, it can store two hours of footage on its 2GB memory. It will also last two hours when fully charged, so you don't need to worry about it running out of juice.

The Vado will be available soon, pricing has yet to be decided. For more information, see Creative.
