Sony Ericsson SO703i - the aroma phone

In years to come we’ll probably look back at this mobile phone and say, “yup, that’s where it all began.” The Sony Ericsson SO703i created for Japan's NTT DoCoMo, wireless operator might not look anything special, but it contains a secret addition that’s set to change our lives forever.

So what is this stunning new feature? High-definition video recording with a built-in upload to YouTube? Holographic projector? A teleporter? Nope. The SO703i incorporates scented sheets and gives off a pleasant and relaxing aroma when opened. Yes, we know that doesn’t sound much at the moment, but think of the possibilities. Your phone could smell like your favourite food (burger chains could give away the sheets for free), or your partner’s perfume/aftershave. If you’re trying to cut down on your mobile bill, you could choose a more pungent, less appealing smell.
